Step 1
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a fluted tube pan (Bundt® pan).
Step 2
In a small bowl, combine 5 tablespoons of sugar and 2 teaspoons of ground cinnamon. Add the sliced apples and toss until they are well coated with the mixture.
Step 3
In a large mixing bowl, combine 3 cups of flour, 2 cups of sugar, 1 cup of vegetable oil, 4 large eggs, the juice of 1 orange, 3 teaspoons of baking powder, and 2 1/2 teaspoons of vanilla extract. Mix until the batter is moist and thick.
Step 4
Pour a small amount of the batter into the prepared pan to cover the bottom. Layer half of the sugared apple slices on top of the batter. Repeat the layers with more batter and the remaining apple slices, finishing with a layer of batter on top.
Step 5
Bake in the preheated oven for about 1 hour and 10 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
