Cooking Instructions
Follow our step-by-step guide on how to make Orange Chicken with Asian Flavors.
Step 1
Start by gathering all your ingredients to make the cooking process smooth and enjoyable.
Step 2
In a medium saucepan, combine 1 1/2 cups of water, 1/3 cup of rice vinegar, 1/4 cup of fresh lemon juice, 2 1/2 tablespoons of soy sauce, and 2 tablespoons of orange juice.
Step 3
Give it a good stir, then add in 1 cup of packed brown sugar, 2 tablespoons of chopped green onion, 1 tablespoon of grated orange zest, 1/2 teaspoon of minced fresh ginger, 1/2 teaspoon of minced garlic, and a pinch of red pepper flakes (1/4 teaspoon).
Step 4
Bring this delightful mixture to a boil, then take it off the heat and let it cool for about 10 to 15 minutes.
Step 5
While your sauce is cooling, take a resealable plastic bag and place your chicken inside.
Step 6
Pour in 1 cup of the cooled sauce, seal the bag tightly, and pop it in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours.
Step 7
This will infuse the chicken with amazing flavors, so don’t skip this step! Next, in another resealable bag, mix together some flour, salt, and pepper.
Step 8
Once the chicken has marinated, take it out of the bag and transfer it to the seasoned flour bag.
Step 9
Seal it up and give it a good shake to coat the chicken evenly.
Step 10
Now, heat some olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
Step 11
Once the oil is hot, add the chicken and cook it until it’s beautifully browned on both sides.
Step 12
When it’s done, remove the chicken and place it on a paper towel-lined plate, covering it with aluminum foil to keep it warm.
Step 13
Don’t forget to wipe out the skillet to prepare for the next step! Pour the reserved sauce into the skillet and bring it to a boil over medium-high heat.
Step 14
In a small bowl, mix together 3 tablespoons of cornstarch with 2 tablespoons of water until it’s smooth.
Step 15
Stir this mixture into the boiling sauce to thicken it up.
Step 16
Lower the heat to medium-low, add the chicken back into the skillet, and let it simmer while stirring occasionally for about 5 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and coated in that luscious sauce.
Step 17
Finally, serve your delicious Asian Orange Chicken over a bed of rice, and enjoy every flavorful bite! This dish is sure to impress your family and friends, making it a perfect addition to your weeknight dinner rotation.
Step 18
Happy cooking!.
