Cooking Instructions
Follow our step-by-step guide on how to make Butternut Squash Dumplings.
Step 1
Begin by placing the halved butternut squash, cut-side down, in a shallow dish and cover it with plastic wrap.
Step 2
Microwave the squash for approximately 12 minutes, or until the flesh is tender enough to be pierced easily with a fork.
Step 3
Once done, let it cool for 5 to 10 minutes until itβs comfortable to handle.
Step 4
Carefully scoop the soft flesh into a large bowl, discarding the skin.
Step 5
Blend in brown sugar and 2 tablespoons of soy sauce, then fold in sliced scallions and freshly grated ginger until everything is harmoniously mixed.
Step 6
Take a wonton wrapper and spoon 1 tablespoon of the squash mixture into its center.
Step 7
Dampen the edges with a bit of water, then fold the wrapper into a triangle, sealing it securely.
Step 8
Continue this delightful assembly with the remaining wonton wrappers and filling, placing the finished potstickers on a baking sheet.
Step 9
Freeze the potstickers for about 15 minutes, or until they are firm to the touch.
Step 10
In a large skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil over medium heat.
Step 11
Add a layer of potstickers and cook, gently shaking the skillet, until the bottoms turn a beautiful golden brown, which should take around 2 minutes.
Step 12
Flip the potstickers and pour in 1/2 cup of water.
Step 13
Cover the skillet and allow them to steam until fully cooked, about 3 minutes.
Step 14
Once done, transfer the potstickers to a serving dish and repeat the process with the remaining oil and potstickers.
Step 15
For a delicious dipping sauce, combine 1/2 cup of soy sauce with 1/2 cup of water and a sprinkle of sesame seeds in a small bowl.
Step 16
Serve this savory sauce alongside your potstickers for an irresistible treat.
Step 17
Enjoy the delightful fusion of flavors in every bite!.
