Cooking Instructions
Follow our step-by-step guide on how to make Cheeseburger Wellington Bites.
Step 1
Start by gathering all your ingredients to make the cooking process smooth and enjoyable.
Step 2
In a large, cold skillet, add the bacon and cook it over medium-high heat.
Step 3
Turn the bacon occasionally until it’s beautifully browned, which should take about 10 minutes.
Step 4
Once done, drain the bacon on paper towels to absorb the excess grease, leaving just a bit in the skillet for added flavor.
Step 5
Next, take your ground beef and shape it into a patty that’s about 1 inch thick and 4 1/4 inches in diameter.
Step 6
Generously season both sides with salt, black pepper, and a pinch of cayenne for a little kick.
Step 7
Sear the patty in the hot skillet for 2 minutes on each side, then transfer it to a plate and pop it in the fridge to cool down.
Step 8
While that’s chilling, remove a sheet of puff pastry from the freezer and roll it out to about 1/8 inch thick.
Step 9
Use a round cutter to cut out a 5 1/4 to 5 1/2 inch circle for the bottom and a larger 7 1/4 to 7 1/2 inch circle for the top.
Step 10
Place the smaller round on a sheet pan and return it to the freezer to firm up.
Step 11
For the top pastry, cut a small vent hole in the center and lightly score the surface with a knife, being careful not to cut all the way through.
Step 12
Keep this pastry in the fridge to keep it nice and cold.
Step 13
Now, take the bottom pastry from the freezer and layer the cooled burger patty, crispy bacon, and a generous amount of cheddar cheese on top.
Step 14
In a small bowl, whisk together an egg with a teaspoon of water to create an egg wash, and brush this mixture around the edges of the pastry.
Step 15
Carefully place the top pastry over the filling, pressing the edges together to seal everything in.
Step 16
For a decorative touch, you can roll the bottom edge over the top.
Step 17
Chill the assembled pastry in the fridge for about 20 minutes to help it hold its shape.
Step 18
While it’s chilling, preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C).
Step 19
Once the oven is ready, crimp the edges of the pastry with a fork and brush the top with the remaining egg wash for a beautiful golden finish.
Step 20
Bake in the preheated oven for 20 to 22 minutes, or until the pastry is a lovely golden brown.
Step 21
After baking, transfer your Cheeseburger Wellington to a cooling rack and let it sit for about 5 minutes before slicing into it.
Step 22
Enjoy every delicious bite of your homemade creation!.
