Step 1
In a medium bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, baking soda, and salt until well combined.

In a large bowl, combine the light brown sugar, white sugar, softened butter, and shortening. Beat with an electric mixer on medium speed until the mixture is light and fluffy.

Add the egg, vanilla extract, and molasses to the sugar mixture, mixing on low speed until fully incorporated.

Gradually add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients, blending until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.

Using a wooden spoon, gently fold in the dark chocolate chips, dried cherries, and chopped pecans until evenly distributed.
