Cooking Instructions
Follow our step-by-step guide on how to make Classic Beef Lasagna with Hunt's® Tomato Sauce.
Step 1
Start by preheating your oven to a cozy 350°F (175°C).
Step 2
While that warms up, grab a 9x13-inch glass baking dish and give it a light spray with PAM® Original No-Stick Cooking Spray to ensure your delicious creation doesn’t stick.
Step 3
In a small bowl, combine ricotta cheese with 2 tablespoons of water, chopped parsley, and a sprinkle of black pepper.
Step 4
Mix it well and set it aside for now; this will add a creamy layer to your lasagna.
Step 5
Next, heat a large skillet over medium-high heat.
Step 6
Toss in the ground beef along with the chopped onion, seasoning it with the remaining black pepper, Italian seasoning, and a pinch of salt.
Step 7
Cook this mixture for about 7 minutes, stirring occasionally until the beef is nicely crumbled and no longer pink.
Step 8
Add in the chopped garlic and let it cook for another minute until it fills your kitchen with a wonderful aroma.
Step 9
Don’t forget to drain any excess fat to keep your dish light and tasty.
Step 10
Now, stir in the remaining water, undrained diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, balsamic vinegar, and a dash of crushed red pepper flakes into the skillet.
Step 11
Lower the heat and let this savory meat sauce simmer for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally to blend those flavors beautifully.
Step 12
It’s time to assemble your lasagna! Start by spreading about 1 cup of the meat sauce evenly over the bottom of your prepared baking dish.
Step 13
Lay down 3 dry lasagna noodles on top of the sauce, then layer on 2 cups of the meat sauce, half of your ricotta mixture, 1 cup of mozzarella cheese, and 1/3 cup of Parmesan cheese.
Step 14
Repeat these layers, finishing with a final layer of noodles topped with the remaining meat sauce and the rest of the mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses.
Step 15
To keep everything nice and moist while baking, cover the dish tightly with aluminum foil, but remember to spray the underside with PAM® to prevent sticking.
Step 16
Pop it into your preheated oven and let it bake for 45 minutes.
Step 17
After that, carefully remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the cheese is beautifully melted and the sauce is bubbling with excitement.
Step 18
Once it’s done, let your lasagna rest for about 15 minutes before serving.
Step 19
This little pause allows the layers to set perfectly, making it easier to slice and serve.
Step 20
Enjoy your homemade lasagna, a comforting dish that’s sure to bring smiles to the table!.
