Cooking Instructions
Follow our step-by-step guide on how to make Classic Italian Pizzelle Cookies.
Step 1
Preheat your pizzelle iron according to the manufacturer's instructions.
Step 2
In a mixing bowl, combine the beaten eggs, white sugar, and softened butter. Use an electric mixer to blend until smooth.
Step 3
Gradually add the all-purpose flour, vanilla extract, and anise extract to the mixture. Beat until all ingredients are well combined.
Step 4
Lightly spray the inside of the pizzelle iron with cooking spray to prevent sticking.
Step 5
Drop teaspoonfuls of the batter into the center of each pizzelle grid. Close the lid and bake until the steam stops and the cookies are a light golden brown, about 45 to 60 seconds.
Step 6
Carefully remove the pizzelle using a fork and lay them flat on a newspaper or cooling rack. While they are still warm, sprinkle with powdered sugar to taste, then let them sit for about 1 minute before dusting the other side. Repeat the process with the remaining batter to yield approximately 30 cookies.
