Cooking Instructions
Follow our step-by-step guide on how to make Classic Seafood Paella.
Step 1
Start by bringing a pot of lightly salted water to a vigorous boil.
Step 2
Gently add the mussels and let them cook until they open, which should take about five minutes.
Step 3
Once done, drain the mussels and discard any that remain closed.
Step 4
In a separate pot, boil shrimp and squid in lightly salted water until they turn opaque, roughly three to four minutes.
Step 5
Drain the seafood, but be sure to reserve the flavorful cooking liquid.
Step 6
Next, heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
Step 7
Add the chicken pieces and sautรฉ, stirring occasionally, until they achieve a beautiful golden brown color, about five minutes.
Step 8
Once cooked, transfer the chicken to a plate and set it aside.
Step 9
In the same skillet, toss in chopped garlic, sliced bell pepper, and cubed tomatoes.
Step 10
Stir frequently and cook until the vegetables soften, which should take around three minutes.
Step 11
While the vegetables are cooking, combine the reserved seafood cooking liquid with three cups of salted water in a separate pot and bring it to a boil.
Step 12
Stir in the rice, saffron, and paprika, allowing it to come to a boil once more.
Step 13
Then, cover the pot, reduce the heat, and let it simmer until the rice is tender, approximately 15 to 20 minutes.
Step 14
When the rice is perfectly cooked, fold in the green peas for a pop of color and flavor.
Step 15
Transfer the vibrant rice mixture to a large serving dish, artfully arranging the succulent chicken, colorful vegetables, and tender seafood around it.
Step 16
Serve this delightful dish hot, and enjoy a taste of the sea with every bite.
