Cooking Instructions
Follow our step-by-step guide on how to make Classic Vanilla Cupcakes.
Step 1
Preheat your oven to 350ยฐF (175ยฐC) and line two 12-cup muffin tins with paper liners.
Step 2
In a mixing bowl, combine the self-rising flour and all-purpose flour. Set aside.
Step 3
In a large bowl, cream the softened butter using an electric mixer on medium speed until smooth. Gradually add the sugar and continue to beat until the mixture is fluffy, about 3 minutes.
Step 4
Add the eggs one at a time, ensuring to beat well after each addition.
Step 5
Gradually incorporate the flour mixture in three batches, alternating with the milk and vanilla extract. Mix briefly after each addition until just combined.
Step 6
Fill each cupcake liner about 3/4 full with the batter.
Step 7
Bake in the preheated oven for about 20 minutes, or until the tops spring back when lightly pressed. Allow the cupcakes to cool in the tins for 10 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Step 8
For the frosting, cream the butter in a large bowl until smooth. Gradually mix in half of the confectioners' sugar, followed by the milk and vanilla. Beat until the mixture is smooth and creamy, about 3 to 5 minutes. Gradually add the remaining confectioners' sugar and mix until the icing reaches a thick, spreadable consistency.
Step 9
Once the cupcakes are completely cool, spread the icing generously on top.
