Cooking Instructions
Follow our step-by-step guide on how to make Cranberry Oat Bars.
Step 1
In a medium saucepan, combine cranberries, white sugar, and water.
Step 2
Heat over medium, stirring often, until the mixture reaches a boil.
Step 3
Once boiling, lower the heat and let it simmer, occasionally mashing the cranberries, until it thickens, which should take about 15 minutes.
Step 4
Remove from heat and allow it to cool completely for around 30 minutes.
Step 5
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
Step 6
Prepare an 8-inch square baking pan by lining it with foil and lightly spraying the foil with cooking spray.
Step 7
In a food processor, pulse together flour, rolled oats, chopped pecans, brown sugar, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg three times to blend.
Step 8
Add butter and pulse until the mixture begins to clump.
Step 9
Firmly press half of this dough into the bottom of your prepared baking pan.
Step 10
Once the cranberry jam has cooled, spread it evenly over the dough, then sprinkle the remaining dough on top, gently pressing it down to create an even layer.
Step 11
Bake in the preheated oven for 45 to 50 minutes, or until the top turns a lovely golden brown.
Step 12
Allow the bars to cool completely in the pan on a wire rack.
Step 13
When cooled, lift the foil to remove the bars from the pan and slice them into squares.
Step 14
Enjoy these delightful cranberry bars as a sweet treat or a festive dessert!.
