Cooking Instructions
Follow our step-by-step guide on how to make Crispy Hawaiian Chicken Wings.
Step 1
In a small saucepan, combine the soy sauce, white sugar, chopped green onions, minced garlic, toasted sesame seeds, rice wine vinegar, sesame oil, red pepper flakes, and lemon juice. Bring the mixture to a boil and let it simmer for 2 to 3 minutes. Reduce the heat to low and keep the sauce warm.
Step 2
Pat the chicken wings dry with paper towels. Place the flour in a shallow dish and coat each wing thoroughly with flour, shaking off any excess flour before setting them aside on a plate.
Step 3
In a wok or Dutch oven, heat the coconut oil over medium heat until it reaches 350ยฐF (175ยฐC). Carefully lower 5 to 6 wings into the hot oil one at a time, using tongs or a slotted spoon. Avoid overcrowding the pan to prevent splashing. Fry the wings for 7 to 8 minutes on each side, or until they are golden brown, crispy, and cooked through.
Step 4
Once cooked, transfer the wings to the saucepan with the warm sauce using tongs. Toss the wings in the sauce and let them soak for 3 to 4 minutes to absorb the flavors. Continue frying the remaining wings in batches until all are cooked and coated in sauce.
Step 5
Serve the wings hot or at room temperature, allowing any excess sauce to drain off.
