Cooking Instructions
Follow our step-by-step guide on how to make Decadent Layered Peanut Butter Brownies.
Step 1
Start by preheating your oven to 350Β°F (175Β°C). Grab a 10x15-inch jellyroll pan and grease it well to ensure your brownies come out easily later on.
Step 2
In a saucepan over low heat, melt together 1 cup of unsalted butter and 1/3 cup of unsweetened cocoa powder. Stir often until the mixture is smooth and glossy, which should take about 5 minutes. Once melted, remove it from the heat and let it cool slightly.
Step 3
In a large mixing bowl, combine 2 cups of granulated sugar, 1 1/2 cups of all-purpose flour, and 1/2 teaspoon of salt. Pour in the chocolate mixture and beat with an electric mixer on medium speed until everything is well blended, about 1 to 2 minutes. Then, add in 4 large eggs and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract, stirring until fully combined.
Step 4
Pour the brownie batter into your prepared jellyroll pan, spreading it evenly. Bake in the preheated oven for about 20 minutes, or until the edges start to become crisp and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
Step 5
While the brownies are baking, warm 18 ounces of peanut butter in the microwave for about 2 minutes, stirring once to ensure itβs smooth. Once the brownies are out of the oven, spread the warm peanut butter over the top. Then, chill the brownies in the refrigerator for 30 minutes to set the peanut butter layer.
Step 6
Next, prepare the marshmallow frosting. In a saucepan over medium heat, combine 1/2 cup of unsalted butter, 1/3 cup of milk, and 10 large marshmallows. Stir often until the marshmallows are completely melted, which should take about 5 minutes. Remove from heat and whisk in 1/4 cup of unsweetened cocoa powder.
Step 7
Gradually stir in 16 ounces of confectioners' sugar until the frosting is smooth and creamy. Spread this delightful frosting over the peanut butter layer of the brownies. Chill in the refrigerator until the frosting is set, about 20 minutes. Once set, cut into squares and enjoy your decadent treat!
