Cooking Instructions
Follow our step-by-step guide on how to make Decadent State Fair Crepes with Bacon and Bananas.
Step 1
Start by blending together the milk, eggs, melted butter, white sugar, almond extract, and flour in a blender until you achieve a smooth batter. This should take about 1 to 2 minutes. Once blended, let the batter rest for at least 20 minutes to enhance the texture of your crepes.
Step 2
While the batter is resting, cook the bacon in a large, deep skillet over medium-high heat. Fry until the bacon is evenly browned and crispy, which should take about 10 minutes. Once done, drain the bacon on a paper towel-lined plate to absorb excess grease.
Step 3
Next, melt 1 teaspoon of butter on a crepe pan or a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Pour in 1/4 cup of the rested batter, swirling the pan to coat the bottom evenly with a thin layer. Cook until small brown spots appear on the bottom, which should take about 2 to 3 minutes.
Step 4
Carefully loosen the crepe from the pan and flip it over to cook the other side for another 1 to 2 minutes. The crepe is ready when the center is set and you see a few small brown spots on the second side. Slide the finished crepe onto a plate lined with parchment paper. Repeat this process for the remaining batter, buttering the pan as needed, and stack the cooked crepes between pieces of parchment paper to keep them warm and prevent sticking.
Step 5
In a separate skillet, melt the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter and add the sliced bananas. Cook the bananas until they are golden brown on both sides, which should take about 3 minutes per side. Once cooked, set the bananas aside.
Step 6
Now it’s time to assemble your crepes! Take one crepe and spread 1 tablespoon of chocolate-hazelnut spread and 1 tablespoon of peanut butter over it. Place a crispy bacon strip in the center of the crepe and top it with a banana half. Drizzle about 1/2 teaspoon of honey over the banana for an extra touch of sweetness.
Step 7
Roll the crepe into a cylinder shape and dust it with confectioners' sugar. For an indulgent finish, drizzle some chocolate syrup on top. Repeat this process with the remaining ingredients to create a total of 12 filled crepes. Enjoy your delicious creation!
