Cooking Instructions
Follow our step-by-step guide on how to make Delicious Baked Apple Empanadas.
Step 1
In a mixing bowl, combine the butter and softened cream cheese until well blended.
Step 2
Gradually add the flour, mixing until the dough forms a ball. Wrap the dough tightly in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 8 hours or overnight.
Step 3
In a saucepan, combine the diced apples, sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat and cover. Cook, stirring frequently, until the apples reach a chunky applesauce consistency, about 15 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool to room temperature.
Step 4
Take the dough out of the refrigerator and let it sit at room temperature for 30 minutes.
Step 5
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Step 6
Divide the dough into 10 equal pieces and roll each piece into a ball. Use a rolling pin to flatten each ball into a 3- to 4-inch circle.
Step 7
Place a spoonful of the apple filling on one half of each circle. Moisten the edges with a little water, then fold the dough over the filling and press the edges together to seal.
Step 8
Arrange the empanadas on the prepared baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for about 15 minutes, or until the dough is golden brown.
