Step 1
Preheat your oven to 350ยฐF (175ยฐC) and line a cupcake pan with 12 paper liners.
Step 2
In a pot, combine the fresh blueberries and simmer over medium heat. Stir occasionally until most of the water evaporates, about 30 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool for 20 to 30 minutes. Once cooled, transfer the blueberries to a blender or food processor and puree until smooth.

In a mixing bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.

In the bowl of an electric mixer, cream the butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Scrape down the sides of the bowl as needed.

Mix in 6 tablespoons of the blueberry puree, milk, and vanilla extract until well combined. Gradually add the dry ingredients and mix on low speed until just incorporated. Scrape down the bowl and mix on low speed for an additional minute.

Using an ice cream scoop, evenly fill the prepared cupcake liners with the batter.

Bake in the preheated oven for 20 to 25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of a cupcake comes out clean. Remove from the oven and let cool completely on a wire rack.

For the frosting, beat together the butter, cream cheese, and vanilla extract until smooth. Gradually add the powdered sugar, mixing until well combined. Add the remaining blueberry puree, one tablespoon at a time, until the frosting reaches a smooth and spreadable consistency.

Once the cupcakes are completely cool, frost them generously with the blueberry cream cheese frosting.
