Step 1
Start by sprinkling the yeast and sugar over 2 cups of warm water in a small bowl. Make sure the water is no hotter than 100°F (40°C). Let this mixture sit for about 20 minutes until the yeast softens and forms a creamy foam on top. This is the magic moment when your yeast comes to life!
Step 2
In a large mixing bowl, combine the yeast mixture with warm milk, vegetable oil, and salt. Stir everything together until well combined. Gradually add in half of the flour, mixing until there are no dry spots left. Then, continue adding the remaining flour, one cup at a time, mixing well after each addition. You want the dough to be moderately stiff and slightly sticky. Once it comes together, turn it out onto a lightly floured surface and knead it for about 8 minutes until it’s smooth and elastic. Next, spray a large bowl with cooking spray and place your dough inside, turning it to coat.
