Cooking Instructions
Follow our step-by-step guide on how to make Fluffy Homemade Yeast Rolls.
Step 1
Start by dissolving 1 tablespoon of sugar in a small bowl with warm water. Sprinkle the yeast over the water and let it sit for about 5 minutes until it softens and forms a creamy foam. This is the magic moment when your yeast comes to life!
Step 2
In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, the remaining sugar, and salt. Once your yeast has foamed beautifully, stir the melted lard into the yeast mixture, then combine it with the flour mixture until a sticky dough forms. Don't worry if it's a bit messy; that's part of the fun!
Step 3
Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead it for about 10 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic. If the dough sticks to your hands, feel free to add a little more flour. Once it's nice and elastic, cover it with the mixing bowl and let it rest for 15 minutes. Meanwhile, grease a 9x13-inch baking dish with lard to prepare for the rolls.
Step 4
After the dough has rested, cut it into three equal sections. Then, cut each section into 8 pieces. Roll each piece into a ball and place them in the prepared baking dish, arranging them in 6 rows of 4. Cover the dish with a light cloth and let the rolls rise in a warm place (ideally between 80 to 95°F or 27 to 35°C) until they double in size, which should take about 45 minutes.
Step 5
While the rolls are rising, preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C).
Step 6
Once the rolls have risen beautifully, bake them in the preheated oven for about 1 hour, or until the tops are golden brown and the bottoms sound hollow when tapped. The aroma will be irresistible! Allow the rolls to cool for at least 10 minutes before digging in. Enjoy them warm, perhaps with a pat of butter or your favorite jam!
