Cooking Instructions
Follow our step-by-step guide on how to make Iced Pumpkin Scones Delight.
Step 1
Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Step 2
In a stand mixer bowl, combine the flour, 1/4 cup plus 3 tablespoons of sugar, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and ginger. Mix using the paddle attachment.
Step 3
Add the cold butter pieces to the bowl and toss them with a spatula to coat in the flour mixture. Mix until the mixture resembles cornmeal, with butter pieces no larger than a pea, about 2 minutes.
Step 4
In a separate bowl, whisk together the pumpkin, egg, and half-and-half until well blended. Fold this pumpkin mixture into the flour mixture until a dough forms that can be shaped into a ball.
Step 5
Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and press it into a rectangle about 3/4 to 1 inch thick. Use a pizza cutter to slice the dough into 4 rectangles, then cut each rectangle into 2 triangles. Place the triangles on the prepared baking sheet.
Step 6
Bake in the preheated oven for about 15 minutes, or until the scones are lightly browned around the edges and on top.
Step 7
Once baked, transfer the scones to a wire rack to cool completely, which should take about 20 minutes.
Step 8
In a small bowl, mix powdered sugar and milk to create a glaze, adjusting the consistency with more sugar or milk as needed. Brush this glaze over the cooled scones and let it harden for about 10 minutes.
Step 9
For an extra touch, mix more powdered sugar with milk, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, and cloves in another bowl. Drizzle this spiced glaze over the first glaze and allow it to harden completely for another 10 minutes.
