Cooking Instructions
Follow our step-by-step guide on how to make Italian Sausage Spaghetti Dish.
Step 1
Start by heating a splash of olive oil in a saucepan over medium heat.
Step 2
Once the oil is shimmering, add the sweet Italian sausage links and cover the pot with a lid.
Step 3
Let them cook for about five minutes on each side until they’re beautifully browned and cooked through.
Step 4
Once done, transfer the sausages to a plate and allow them to cool.
Step 5
While the sausages are cooling, pour in some white wine into the same pot over medium-high heat.
Step 6
As the wine simmers, use a wooden spoon to scrape up the delicious caramelized bits from the bottom of the pan.
Step 7
Let the wine reduce by half, which should take just a minute or two.
Step 8
Next, stir in your marinara sauce.
Step 9
To make sure you get every last bit of sauce, rinse the jar with one and a half cups of water, give it a good shake, and pour that into the pot as well.
Step 10
Bring this mixture back to a gentle simmer, then reduce the heat to low.
Step 11
Once the sausages have cooled enough to handle, slice each link into four pieces and add them back into the simmering sauce along with any juices that have collected on the plate.
Step 12
Stir everything together and increase the heat slightly to maintain a gentle simmer.
Step 13
Let it cook for about an hour, stirring occasionally.
Step 14
Taste the sauce and adjust the seasonings to your liking, skimming off about half of the fat that rises to the surface.
Step 15
Continue simmering until the sauce thickens, which should take another 30 minutes.
Step 16
While the sauce is bubbling away, bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.
Step 17
Cook your spaghetti in the boiling water, stirring occasionally, until it’s almost tender but still has a nice bite, about 10 to 11 minutes.
Step 18
Once cooked, drain the spaghetti and add it directly to the pot with the sauce.
Step 19
Toss everything together until the pasta is well coated, then cover the pot and let it sit for a minute to allow the spaghetti to soak up some of that rich sauce.
Step 20
When you’re ready to serve, plate the pasta and top each serving with four pieces of sausage.
Step 21
For the finishing touch, sprinkle freshly grated Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese and a handful of chopped parsley on top.
Step 22
Enjoy this comforting dish that’s sure to bring smiles to the table!.
