Cooking Instructions
Follow our step-by-step guide on how to make Korean Mandu (Stuffed Egg Rolls).
Step 1
Start by heating a large skillet over medium-high heat.
Step 2
Add the ground beef and pork, cooking them until they’re beautifully browned and crumbly, which should take about 5 to 7 minutes.
Step 3
Once cooked, drain any excess grease and transfer the meat to a large bowl, using a wooden spoon to break up any large chunks.
Step 4
While the meat is sizzling away, prepare a steamer insert in a saucepan filled with water, making sure the water level is just below the bottom of the steamer.
Step 5
Bring the water to a rolling boil, then toss in the shredded cabbage.
Step 6
Cover the pot and let it steam until the cabbage is tender, which should take around 2 to 4 minutes.
Step 7
Next, heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or a large saucepan until it reaches a temperature of 360°F (182°C).
Step 8
In the bowl with your cooked meat, mix in the steamed cabbage, chopped bean sprouts, minced celery, chopped green onion, soy sauce, cornstarch, sesame oil, salt, and black pepper.
Step 9
Stir everything together until it’s well combined and bursting with flavor.
Step 10
Now it’s time to assemble your wontons! Place a spoonful of the delicious filling mixture in the center of each wonton wrapper.
Step 11
Brush the edges of the wrapper with a bit of beaten egg, then fold it over the filling, sealing it tightly to keep all that goodness inside.
Step 12
When you’re ready to fry, carefully place the filled wontons in the hot oil in batches, cooking them until they turn a gorgeous golden brown, which should take about 3 to 5 minutes.
Step 13
Once they’re perfectly crispy, remove them from the oil and let them drain on a plate lined with paper towels.
Step 14
Enjoy the delightful crunch and savory flavors of your homemade wontons!.
