To start your delicious lentil loaf, grab a saucepan and combine 2 1/2 cups of water with the brown lentils.

Bring this mixture to a lively boil, then lower the heat, cover it up, and let it simmer gently for about 20 to 30 minutes, or until the lentils are tender and the water has mostly absorbed.

While the lentils are cooking, take a small bowl and mix 1/3 cup of water with the ground flax seed.
