Cooking Instructions
Follow our step-by-step guide on how to make Shrimp and Beef Potstickers.
Step 1
Start by placing the shrimp in a food processor and finely grinding it until it reaches a smooth consistency.
Step 2
Once done, transfer the shrimp to a large mixing bowl.
Step 3
Next, do the same with the ground beef, grinding it until it’s nice and fine, then add it to the bowl with the shrimp.
Step 4
Now, it’s time to bring in some flavor! Add minced ginger, shallot, chopped green onions, and chopped napa cabbage to the mixture.
Step 5
Drizzle in soy sauce and sesame oil, then sprinkle in a bit of salt, white pepper, and a pinch of sugar.
Step 6
Mix everything together thoroughly until all the ingredients are well combined, creating a delicious filling that’s bursting with flavor.
Step 7
To assemble your potstickers, lay a gyoza wrapper flat on a clean surface.
Step 8
Scoop a scant teaspoon of the filling and place it right in the center of the wrapper.
Step 9
Dampen the edges of the wrapper with a little water using your finger; this will help seal it.
Step 10
Now, fold the wrapper in half to form a half-moon shape, carefully enclosing the filling.
Step 11
Press the edges together firmly to seal, making sure to push out any excess air.
Step 12
For a charming touch, you can create small pleats along the top edge before sealing it completely.
Step 13
Once filled, place the potstickers on a parchment-lined baking sheet and pop them in the fridge while you finish filling the rest of the wrappers.
Step 14
When you’re ready to cook, heat some vegetable oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium heat.
Step 15
Arrange the potstickers in the skillet, flat side down, making sure not to overcrowd them.
Step 16
Fry them until the bottoms turn a beautiful golden brown, which should take about 1 to 2 minutes.
Step 17
Carefully flip each potsticker, then pour in some water—just enough to cover the bottom of the skillet.
Step 18
Cover the skillet with a lid and let them steam until the water has nearly evaporated and the potstickers start to fry again, which will take about 5 to 7 minutes.
Step 19
Finally, remove the lid and continue cooking until all the water has evaporated and the wrappers cling tightly around the filling, which should take an additional 2 to 3 minutes.
Step 20
Enjoy the delightful aroma and the satisfying crunch of your homemade potstickers!.
