Cooking Instructions
Follow our step-by-step guide on how to make Sourdough Cinnamon Raisin Loaf.
Step 1
In a bread machine, add the sourdough starter, egg, 2 tablespoons of softened margarine, flour, raisins, 2 tablespoons of sugar, and salt in that order.
Step 2
Select the Dough cycle and start the machine. Once the cycle is complete (about 90 minutes), remove the dough from the machine.
Step 3
Transfer the dough to a lightly greased bowl and cover it with a towel. Let it rise in a draft-free area until it has doubled in size, which may take 8 hours to overnight.
Step 4
In a small bowl, mix together the remaining sugar and cinnamon.
Step 5
On a floured surface, turn out the dough and roll it into a rectangle approximately 9 inches wide and 1/2 inch thick. Brush milk over the surface of the dough and sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture on top.
Step 6
Carefully roll the dough tightly into a log and place it in a greased 9x5-inch loaf pan. Allow it to rise until it is at least 1 inch above the rim of the pan, about 1 hour.
Step 7
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
Step 8
Bake the loaf in the preheated oven for about 45 minutes, or until it is golden brown.
