Cooking Instructions
Follow our step-by-step guide on how to make Spicy Blackberry Habanero BBQ Sauce.
Step 1
Start by gathering all your ingredients, and let’s dive into making this delicious BBQ sauce! In a large pot, combine the fresh blackberries, ketchup, blackberry jelly, white sugar, raspberry balsamic vinegar, light corn syrup, tomato paste, frozen limeade concentrate, cider vinegar, finely ground sea salt, bourbon whiskey, garlic powder, liquid smoke, ground ginger, ground chipotle pepper, red pepper flakes, finely ground black pepper, teriyaki sauce, and hot pepper sauce. Stir everything together until well mixed, and bring the mixture to a simmer over medium-high heat. The aroma will be incredible!
Step 2
Once it’s simmering, reduce the heat to medium-low and let it bubble gently for about 10 minutes. This is where the flavors start to meld beautifully. Now, add the whole habanero peppers to the pot. Continue to simmer the sauce for an additional 20 minutes, or until it thickens to your desired consistency. The habaneros will infuse the sauce with a delightful heat, but don’t worry, you can always adjust the spice level to your liking!
Step 3
After the sauce has thickened, carefully remove the pot from the heat and discard the habanero peppers. They’ve done their job! Now, it’s time to blend the sauce. Pour it into a blender, but be sure not to fill it more than halfway to avoid any splatters. Cover the lid securely, holding it down with a kitchen towel, and pulse a few times before blending it until smooth. You may need to do this in batches, but the result will be a velvety, rich BBQ sauce that’s bursting with flavor!
How to Serve
This BBQ sauce is perfect for slathering on grilled meats, using as a dipping sauce for appetizers, or even drizzling over roasted vegetables for an extra kick!
How to Store
Store any leftover sauce in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to two weeks. You can also freeze it in small portions for longer storage.
