Cooking Instructions
Follow our step-by-step guide on how to make Spicy Mongolian Beef Stir-Fry.
Step 1
To start, place your flank steak on a cutting board and cover it with plastic wrap.
Step 2
Pop it in the freezer for about 20 to 30 minutes until it’s partially frozen; this makes slicing it thinly against the grain a breeze.
Step 3
Once it’s firm, take the steak out and slice it into thin strips.
Step 4
Next, grab a freezer-safe bowl and whisk together chicken stock and cornstarch until it’s nice and smooth.
Step 5
Then, stir in the hot chili oil, hoisin sauce, oyster sauce, dry sherry, sugar, soy sauce, and crushed red pepper flakes.
Step 6
Add your sliced beef to this flavorful sauce, making sure each piece is well coated.
Step 7
Cover the bowl and freeze the mixture for about an hour until it’s solid.
Step 8
After that, let the beef mixture defrost at room temperature for about 30 minutes.
Step 9
Now, heat a wok over high heat until it’s really hot, then add some peanut oil.
Step 10
Once the oil is shimmering, toss in chopped garlic and stir-fry for about 15 seconds until it’s fragrant and inviting.
Step 11
Next, add Swiss chard and green onions to the wok, cooking and stirring until the veggies are bright green and tender, which should take about 3 minutes.
Step 12
Remove the vegetables from the wok and set them aside for now.
Step 13
Pour the defrosted beef mixture into the hot wok and stir-fry it until the beef is browned and the sauce thickens into a delicious glaze, which should take around 3 to 5 minutes.
Step 14
Finally, return the cooked vegetables to the wok, sprinkle everything with a pinch of salt and black pepper, and give it a good mix.
Step 15
Serve your vibrant stir-fry hot and enjoy the delightful flavors!.
