Cooking Instructions
Follow our step-by-step guide on how to make Spicy Salmon Maki Rolls.
Step 1
Start by rinsing your sushi rice under cold water in a strainer until the water runs clear.
Step 2
This step is crucial for achieving that perfect texture.
Step 3
Next, combine the rinsed rice with water in a saucepan.
Step 4
Bring it to a gentle boil over medium-high heat, then reduce the heat to low, cover the pot, and let it simmer for about 20 minutes.
Step 5
Once the rice is cooked, take it off the heat and let it sit for a moment.
Step 6
Meanwhile, in a small saucepan, mix together rice wine vinegar, sugar, and salt.
Step 7
Heat this mixture over medium heat until the sugar dissolves, then remove it from the heat and allow it to cool.
Step 8
Once your rice has cooled down a bit, stir in the vinegar mixture and let it cool completely for around 30 minutes.
Step 9
Now, grab a sushi mat and place a sheet of nori on it.
Step 10
Spread about half a cup of the cooled rice evenly over the nori, making sure to leave a small border at the top.
Step 11
Flip the nori so the rice is facing down, and in the center, layer 3 to 4 slices of creamy avocado, about 2 ounces of fresh salmon, a strip of green onion for a bit of crunch, and a couple of teaspoons of zesty sriracha mayonnaise for that extra kick.
Step 12
Carefully roll the nori tightly around the filling, starting from the bottom and rolling upwards.
Step 13
Once you have a nice tight roll, drizzle some hoisin sauce and a bit more sriracha mayonnaise over the top, then sprinkle with both black and toasted sesame seeds for a delightful finish.
Step 14
Finally, slice your sushi roll into 8 beautiful pieces and serve it up with a dollop of wasabi and some pickled ginger on the side.
Step 15
Enjoy your homemade sushi experience!.
