Step 1
In a bowl, soak the chopped figs in whiskey for at least 30 minutes to enhance their flavor.

Preheat your oven to 350ยฐF (175ยฐC) and line a 12-cup muffin tin with paper liners.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, cream of tartar, and ground cloves.

In another bowl, use an electric mixer to blend the white sugar, vegetable oil, and brown sugar until creamy. Add the egg and mix well. Then, incorporate the buttermilk and vanilla extract into the mixture.

Set aside 1 tablespoon of the fig and whiskey mixture for the frosting, and fold the remaining figs into the batter. Gradually add the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined.
