Cooking Instructions
Follow our step-by-step guide on how to make Decadent Fudge Chunk Cookies.
Step 1
Start by melting 1/2 cup of semisweet chocolate chips along with 5 tablespoons of unsalted butter in a microwave-safe bowl. Heat it for 1 minute at full power, then stir. Continue heating in 20-second intervals, stirring in between, until the chocolate is completely melted. Let it cool slightly while you prepare the other ingredients.
Step 2
In a separate bowl, whisk together 1 egg, 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract, and 1/3 cup of white sugar. Keep whisking until the mixture becomes thick and pale, which should take a few minutes. Once ready, gently stir in the cooled chocolate mixture until well combined.
Step 3
In another bowl, mix together 1/4 cup of all-purpose flour, 1/2 teaspoon of baking powder, 2 tablespoons of unsweetened cocoa powder, and a pinch of salt. Gradually fold this dry mixture into the wet batter, stirring just until blended. Be careful not to overmix!
Step 4
Now, fold in 1/3 cup of chopped walnuts, 1/3 cup of semisweet chocolate chips, and 1/3 cup of raisins. This is where the magic happens—each bite will be a delightful surprise! Cover the dough and chill it in the refrigerator for about 1 hour. This step helps the flavors meld and makes the dough easier to handle.
Step 5
Preheat your oven to 325°F (175°C). Line your baking sheets with parchment paper or give them a light grease. Using a tablespoon, scoop out heaping spoonfuls of the chilled dough and roll them into balls. Place them about 2 inches apart on the baking sheets and gently flatten each ball slightly.
Step 6
Bake in the preheated oven for 13 to 15 minutes, or until the cookies are slightly puffed and just set. Once done, transfer the baking sheet to a cooling rack. The cookies will firm up as they cool, so resist the urge to dig in right away!
