Cooking Instructions
Follow our step-by-step guide on how to make Homemade Strawberry Ice Cream in a Bag.
Step 1
Start by gathering your ingredients and a quart-sized resealable plastic bag. In this bag, combine the half-and-half cream, sugar, vanilla extract, and the chopped fresh strawberries. Seal the bag tightly, making sure to press out as much air as possible, and give it a good shake to mix everything together.
Step 2
Next, take a gallon-sized zip-top bag and place the smaller bag inside it. Fill the larger bag with ice cubes, then sprinkle the kosher salt over the ice. Again, seal the bag tightly, pressing out any excess air.
Step 3
Now comes the fun part! Wrap the bags in a hand towel to keep your hands warm and start shaking them vigorously. Keep shaking for about 5 to 10 minutes, or until the mixture in the smaller bag thickens into a soft-serve ice cream consistency. It's a great way to get some exercise while making a delicious treat!
Step 4
Once the ice cream has thickened, carefully rinse the small bag under cold water to remove any salt. Lay the bag flat on a surface and use the handle of a wooden spoon to push the ice cream down to one corner of the bag. Snip off that corner and squeeze the creamy goodness into a bowl. Enjoy your homemade strawberry ice cream!
How to Serve
Serve the ice cream in bowls topped with extra fresh strawberries or a drizzle of chocolate sauce for an extra treat!
How to Store
Store any leftover ice cream in the freezer in an airtight container for up to a week.
