Cooking Instructions
Follow our step-by-step guide on how to make Zucchini Strawberry Jam.
Step 1
Start by giving your six half-pint jars a thorough inspection.
Step 2
Look for any cracks and check the rings for rust; if you find any defects, it’s best to discard those jars.
Step 3
Once you’ve ensured your jars are in good shape, immerse them in simmering water to keep them warm while you prepare your delicious jam.
Step 4
Don’t forget to wash your new lids and rings in warm, soapy water to keep everything clean and safe.
Step 5
In a large pot, combine the shredded zucchini and sugar over medium heat.
Step 6
Stir the mixture gently until the sugar dissolves and it starts to bubble, which should take about 10 minutes.
Step 7
Once you see that lovely boil, add in the lemon juice and strawberry-flavored Jell-O, stirring continuously for another 5 minutes.
Step 8
This is where the magic happens, as the flavors meld together beautifully.
Step 9
Now it’s time to ladle that hot, fragrant jam into your sterilized jars.
Step 10
Fill each jar to about 1/4 inch from the top.
Step 11
To ensure your jam has a perfect texture, take a clean knife or a thin spatula and run it around the inside of the jars to release any trapped air bubbles.
Step 12
Next, wipe the rims of the jars with a damp paper towel to remove any residue, then place the lids on top and screw the rings on tightly to create a good seal.
Step 13
Prepare a large stockpot by placing a rack at the bottom and filling it halfway with water.
Step 14
Bring the water to a rolling boil, then carefully lower your filled jars into the pot using a jar holder, making sure to space them about 2 inches apart.
Step 15
Add more boiling water until it covers the jars by at least 2 inches.
Step 16
Cover the pot and let it boil for 10 minutes to process the jars.
Step 17
Once the time is up, carefully remove the jars from the stockpot and let them cool on a clean surface, spaced several inches apart, for at least 4 hours.
Step 18
To check if they’ve sealed properly, gently press the center of each lid; it should not move up or down.
Step 19
After they’ve cooled, remove the rings for storage and keep your jars in a cool, dark place.
Step 20
If any jars haven’t sealed, simply refrigerate them to enjoy your homemade jam sooner.
Step 21
Enjoy the satisfaction of your hard work and the delightful taste of your homemade strawberry zucchini jam!.
